The DAAD Study scholarship programme aims to support the qualification and employability of young academics and future professionals from developing and emerging countries.

The DAAD Scholarship offers the opportunity to continue their academic and professional career in innovation-driving STEM fields in Germany with a Master’s degree in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and engineering.

2026 DAAD Scholarship for STEM Disciplines Requirements:

For applicants to be considered for the 2026 DAAD Scholarship, they must at least fulfill the following baseline requirements:

  • Be a citizen of a developing country
  • Have a bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) field
  • Demonstrate proficiency in English or German
  • Your university degree should not date back more than 6 years at the time of the application deadline. 
  • Apply for admission to the German university for your chosen study programme is submitted by the due date.
  • Your application cannot be considered, if you have been resident in Germany for longer than 15 months at the application deadline.
  • You must demonstrate above-average academic performance.

2026 DAAD Study Scholarship in Germany Benefits

DAAD Study scholarship recipients will have

  • their tuition fees waived for the 2 years of the Master’s program, 
  • monthly scholarship payments of 992 euros
  • payments toward health, accident, and personal liability insurance cover
  • travel allowance
  • annual study allowance of 460 euros
  • Funding is available for 10 months to 2 years to complete a Master’s degree (full-time, on-campus) at a state or state-recognized university in Germany in the STEM subjects of mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and engineering.

Scholarship applicants must also fulfill the basic requirements for the Master’s program:

  • DAAD Application Form, 
  • Up-to-date CV (Europass format) 
  • Motivation Letter (max 2 pages)
  • Admission letter from German university
  • Proof of English proficiency,
  • Diploma & Transcript of Records copies in original form, with certified translations into English or German (if issued in another language)
  • One recent, supporting letter of recommendation (on a DAAD-form) from a university teacher which provides information about your qualifications. 
  • Passport/national identity card and personal data page of the passport/national identity card
